He was the commander of U.S. Forces in the Pacific during WW2. He was also the Supreme Commander of all Allied Forces in the Pacific. He kept peace with Japan, and defend the Koran invasion! He won many medals for being a great army leader and commander !!!!!!!

  • Douglas MacArthur was a military man, born January 26 1880 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Mary Harding MacArthur was his mother born in Virginia she would persuade her sons to become part of the military. His father, Arthur Macarthur was in the Wisconsin War and soon became the first lieutenant in the Civil War. He then eventually won the Congressional Medal of Honor. Sadly his father died while speaking at his 15th reunion of his original regiment in 1909. Douglas was the 3rd son in the family; he was born the descendent of a long line of military men, and was raised in a military station and moved from post to post often. He was famous for his military activities in the Pacific, during World War 2. “I learned how to ride and shoot before he could ever read or write” he said. Macarthur was put in the West Point Military Academy when he was 19 in 1989; he played basketball and managed football. He then became a military leader and graduated first in his class in 1903, with a grade average of 19.84%. It was the beginning of his military career

Starting his military career, he served the army as well as the director,he returned to the United States and was appointed superintendent at West Point returning from the war and began to rise through his military ranks. 1906 he was then appointed by Theodore Roosevelt to be an aide-de-camp, and then became a member of the general staff in1913. Macarthur was put as chief of staff of the U.S. army, and held post through in 1935.

In 1922 he married a girl named Louise Cromwell Brooks, but then divorced in 1929. He got re-married to a girl named Jean Marie Faircloth. Douglas finally retired from the U.S. army and continued to work the government of the Philippines. In World War 1 he was wounded twice and disabled by a gas attack. On June25, In 1950 North Korea invaded South Korea, it ended by the end if October.
Macarthur began to speak out against the president Truman's actions, so on April 11 Truman fired Douglas MacArthur his most famous and popular general and replaced him with General Matthew Ridgway Douglas MacArthur served in the military for 52years, he received many medals for valor and courage awarded by the United States, he was one the highest ranking officers in the military forces, he also got respect for the peace in Japan and the defense of the Philippines.

He returns to Washington D.C. and was asked to speak to congress, and denied that spoke out about the president actions. Soon after he was the chairman of the Rand Corporation and ran the company for many years.

In May 1962 Douglas returned to West Point to speak to the cadets and to be rewarded with the Sylvanus Thayer Medal, the highest award given by the graduates of West Point.

In 1964 Douglas MacArthur died in Washington D.C. at age eighty-four. :(
